Night Challenge

For this semester-long project, I chose to design a website and mobile app inspired by the Lights Out: Recovering Our Night Sky exhibition at the Smithsonian Museum. The Night Challenge aims to raise awareness about light pollution by encouraging users to reduce their use of artificial lights after sunset. The challenge spans a full year, motivating participants to go outdoors each night, observe the sky, and discover nocturnal creatures. The website provides a platform for users to track their progress and engage with the community through discussion forums. The mobile app complements this experience by allowing users to document their encounters with nocturnal creatures, upload photos, and create a yearly album of their journey. Additionally, users can view and share photos with friends, fostering a sense of connection and shared purpose in preserving our night sky.
